Dating from the late-nineteenth century, a lovely set of four Lunéville faience dinner plates. The subtle scalloped edge makes the overall shape evocative of a flower. Very well used and timeworn, these would look fabulous displayed on a wall or in a glass-door hutch.

Lunéville Faience, a renowned French pottery, originated in the town of Lunéville in Lorraine in 1723, when Jacques Chambrette founded the first faience factory. The manufactory quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality earthenware, often adorned with vibrant hand-painted decorations and Rococo motifs. In 1748, it received the prestigious title of "Manufacture Royale" under the patronage of King Stanislas Leszczynski, Duke of Lorraine.
